iPhone 11 Pro vs Original iPhone
ason they're coming out with phones
over and over agains much money as
ossiblesecond gen or a 3rd g year after year
besides trying to make aen the first iPhone
I ever owned and reviewed was the iPhone
5s this video it's mainly for fun but
it's also for people who make a habit of
omplaining that this year's phones are
just last year's phones plus a few small
bums because if you haven't noticed
that's kind of the whole point the whole
is to offer a small bump and a small
improvement in year-over-year and then
when you do feel like upgrading it adds
up to a larger difference the three or
four years after you've finally decided
to upgrade these smartphones it's a
mature market it's very rare that we get
a truly revolutionary new device a
revolutionary new smartphone but back in
2007 this was that so I wanted to take a
quick look back at a retro phone that I
never used the original the iPhone so
first thing I'm noticing holding it nown 2019 is its a chunky one you know
like this is a really thick phone but
it's als really small it honestly feels
about half the size of its much much
much younger brother and you know
generally it's the right shape the
rectangle with rounded corners with a
lat display these big chrome chamfers
ig forehead big chin we know that and a
physical home button is there and it's
kind of rare these days but every corner
of this device is actually legitimately
reachable that's no problem at all and
the iconic two-tone metal and plastic
it's super recognizable as this first
up guys just got back from
the Apple Store got the what's new iPhone 11
Pro and the iPhone 11 Pro Macs and you
already know today's video let's go
ahead and durability drop test it so
what's particularly interesting about
this year's release is Apple is claiming
that these are the world's most durable
smartphones the glasses
iPhone 11 Pro vs Original iPhone
front and back using a new technology
new process to make it there's a new
feeling on it even I'm very excited to
test it out in real life now mine came
conveniently dropped from the Apple
store on the corner very nice so I
already had a mild concussion a little
late to this party but even so I'm still
super excited to feel the iPhone 11 fo
the first time ever ooh okay so the
packaging is different already only th
front now has the plastic and Wow so
just about as I imagined a very nice
matte coating and it's beefier wow it
feels thicker and heavier than my iPhone
10s definitely a huge difference on the
eeling in the back the logo placement
is such a powerful brand move I love it
apple is just flexing on the other
companies no text whatsoever and the
iPhone 11 pro max so obviously this is
going to be my daily driver oh man
that's beautiful I love the green here
and I love how Apple continues to make
small refinements everywhere like even
in the packaging what I've noticed is
how that the plastic is different on the
iPhone over here this little packet is
now circular rounded off Apple continues
to refine refine refine what I thin
will change this time around is we've
got heavier devices so that'll be a
factor in the durability the lens itself
s I'd say maybe a little less raised
than before there are three times as
many glass lenses though and inside of
here it's all glass inside of the camera
lens so that could influence this but
Apple did say this is their most durable
glass ever let's go ahead and test this
just taking a moment to appreciate the
beauty here I love it I love the feeling
too bad you're gonna slip a case on this
right away and forget about it now
before we get into this I wanted to
announce a giveaway I'm doing with Aaronor mr. who's the boss from giving away
for iPhone 11s and for iPhone 11 pros
and you can find out all about that down
below in the description so there's many
processes we're giving an iPhone away
from many different ways so do check
that out so let me turn these on ge
them set up and we'll introduce them to
the ground as is tradition now
why I'm particularly interested in drop
tests all these years have been doing
them is because we're finally releasing
our case and I think it's the best
companion you can have for an iPhone
because it allows you to appreciate the
esign of your phone while protecting it
at the same time you can find out more
about that down below we're gonna dropt on the side on the side back then the
front and go from there so I think that
these will be fairly well equipped for
waste hlpe I'm gonna start with the
11pro world's most durable glass here we
o three two one there's that one and
the 11pro max in three two on
unscathed stainless steel does scratch
of course a little dent in there but
overall perfect let's go to the side
three two one oh and one more three two
one that's a little gnarly but seems
kay nothing has happened still looks
eally good
no scratches or anything and the back
impact his is one I'm a little scared
for because the lenses just it's the
entire piece of glass together wil
change the dynamics here three two on
ooh befre I look at that the 11pro max
in thre two one
okay moment of truth and the ringer
switch went off so that was quite a
impact okay both have survived an
flawless glass the shock absorption is
amazing in Apple's advertisements they
have like a bunch of lettuce and you
know soft objects flying at them but
when the concrete's hitting seems to do
fine too so far and one more in three
two one face down nice little jump
and three two one smack okay nothing has
happened and nothing has happened that's
a prtty good sign so far they have
urvived the waist height drops this is
where pretty much everyone will be
dropping their iPhone this is fairl
smooth little textured concrete's
even so did well okay so let's take it a
tittle bit higher you know for that rare
occasion when you're talking and your
phone drops
iPhone you could probably tell as soo
as you saw the thumbnail this is of
course a used iPhone but it's held up
pretty well for a decade plus in
people's hands fun fact though we all
know most modern smartphones or maybe we
don't know but they're hiding their
antenna back
in the metal frame of the phone and
various places you can see it around the
phone this first iPhone didn't do that
it just put them all down in the bottom
half of the phone and made the bottom
plastic so that the radios and antennas
could go through that passes through
plastic better than metal simple as that
and then there's the display so while
today we have all these huge
high-resolution displays six to six and
a half inches for a display isn't even
blinked at anymore back here in 2007
we're looking at a 3.5 inch 320 by 480
LCD display can you see individual
pixels yes yes you can see individual
pixels it measures in at officially 163
PPI but it does get surprisingly bright
so I'm not even mad at that as soon as
you look at it a little bit off axis
though or you know even turn it off you
can see the huge difference versus the aminated super high-tech high refresh
rate OLED panels we have today and
that's not even getting into the whole
olding phone thing but it's easy to
forget the display when this phone first
came out was I think the most
revolutionary part of the hardware the
fact that it was a glass display and it
had ten finger multi-touch and that was
a big leap for the mobile UI and I
remember when this one came out it was
on 18 T or singular only and I was a
high school kid on Verizon so I couldn't
just't know if you remember that but it
was also a touchscreen but it was a
resistive touchscreen and it wasn't
multi-touch and it was just a very very
different experience
not all touchscreens are created alike
so this was a big deal I did still enjoy
the Voyager though I did review it good
times
this is obviously a touchscreen phone on
the front and a multimedia texting
device on the inside the bottom of the
original iPhone is maybe where it shows
us age the most that is the og 30 pin
connector and the speaker and microphone
down here in those grills which means
about the top is where you'll find the
headphone jack
but not just any headphone jack
you can see closely here this is a
recessed three-and-a-half millimeter
headphone jack so if you had headphones
with the right diameter then you were
fine but if you had a thicker cable or
if you had a certain right angle
connector they wouldn't work and you'd
have to get an extender basically a
headphone jack two headphone jack dongle
power button is up at the top volume
rocker on the left it
